I’m Heeere!
Okay, you guys, now I’m all the way back. Feeling like I’m getting my head on straight and my life in order. Bills paid. Receipts piled. And now when I look around I have pleasure again. Poinsettias on my organ bench. Sparkly trees (three so far) in the windows. A toy train on the table that I have derailed at least half a dozen times already. I dunno what the deal is, but apparently I still haven’t figured out how wide my hips are. Don’t care either. It’s kinda fun to pretend I have Godzilla-like powers. With one swipe of my paw I could literally level the little plastic town that came with the set. It’s a disappointing burg, but we’re not so much into decor as we are into stuff that moves on tracks, so it’s okay!
Still to come…the Gingerbread House Project. Yes, my friends, we are set to torture yet another wad o’ dough until it bears some resemblance to a dwelling. My future son-in-law has volunteered to kidnap his architecture-major friend, so we will have plans. It’s just that we are completely incapable of executing them with even a milliportion of talent or professionalism! However, we will be cheerful, and more than willing to sample all the accessories!
So tell me what you guys have planned for the next couple of weeks. Anything fun up your sleeves?

Glad to see you’re back Jenn, you’ve been missed, and I hope everything is beginning to appear brighter now.
I wish I had fun planned…Christmas tends to be something of a military operation in my home.
I don’t finish work till Friday which means way too much to do and not enough time to do it in, I love Christmas I just hate the “To Do” List. Just when I think I have it under control and am making some head room, I’m out manouvered and something else jumps up and down like a five year on a sugar rush yelling “Don’t forget about me”. I should really start organising for Christmas in May!

Welcome back! The train sounds amazing, wish we had one of those! As for the ginger bread house, im incapable of baking anything, so my attempt would be a sight to see!
Well the decorations are finally up, so christmas can begin any time! Its going to be the usual festivities, nothing out of the ordinary! Plan to eat my weight in chocolate and not feel at all guilty!
December 14th, 2009 at 1:52 pm
And I’m so happy to see you’re back on full gears!
Professionalism? And where’s the fun then?! (If it comes out badly, you could always say it’s a modern art project, lol)
Now I see where the idea for Raoul’s train set came from…
I don’t really have that many projects set at the moment, but I just came back from a two days trip to Verona (Romeo and Juliet) with my friends from Univ. We went to see the Christmas markets, and we basically wandered around eating, drinking (only some of us, and I wasn’t one of them) and shopping the whole time! It was freaking cold, but we had LOADS of fun!

Then this is for you, Emma. And the second is for everyone, just because I happened across it and loved it!

Thanks, sophie! Thumbs up on the guilt-free chocolate!
Excellent point, Vale! Your trip sounds wonderful. I just got back from western Illinois. Also freaking cold, but not nearly so pretty!

Welcome Back! Good luck with the gingerbread house I wouldn’t even attempt to make one. Well Christmas in Australia is stinkin hot but I wouldn’t have it any other way (although it would be nice to experience a white christmas at least once). So the hubby, kids and I are off to have some fun in the sun on Rottnest Island off the coast of Western Australia. Lots of sun, sand and surf thats what our christmasses are all about. But first I need to get my but into gear, I haven’t even started my christmas shopping yet. Every year its the same and every year I promise myself I won’t leave it till the last minute again I’ll do it early but it never happens. Oh well maybe next year lol.

Oh and I remember singing that song as a kid at our school carols night. Thankyou for showing it, it brought back some memories.

Good to see you back to your cheerful self Jen.
I’ve already spent 6 hours shopping for Christmas so I’m done for the next couple of weeks. Yay! And yes folks, that’s 6 hours in one day. My feet are still recovering. But at least I can rest until New Years!

Glad to have you back, and the best of luck with the gingerbread house, I’m looking forward to pictures
Can understand the train set, I cried when I found out my Dad had sold mine in a garage sale (okay I was 23 and living with my now hubby).
Plans for xmas, well school gets lunchtime on Friday for summer break, so things will be hectic (roll on Feb 2nd). And I won’t have my shopping finished to the last minute as per normal, though I have at least started
Xmas day we are having a friend around for lunch, and the boys are planning on bbq it, so I’ll just have salads and new spuds to do. Oh and another bbq on boxing day with friends.
Its already getting hot here, so am guessing there will be beaches, pools, sunscreen by the bucketload and baby sitting friends animals while they are away.
Oh as a side note, three of us fans got a possible convert cornered at a party last weekend, talked about the books at her
, most mentioned charcters Cole, Roaul, Vayl and Bergman in about that order and the other 2 had yet to read bite marks (they are reading my copy, which I had just handed over).

Don’t really do Christmas, our family tradition is to go to the movies lol. So last year we saw Bedtime Stories. Going on Christmas Eve this year so no Sherlock Homes for me =(

Amanda? There’s seriously a place called Rottnest Island? Classic! Have fun!
Yeah, Beccy, I’ll bet your Homer is hilarious! Enjoy!
Congratulations, Tori! Whatever you decide to do, I hope it’s fun.
It’s just strange for me to think of a warm Christmas, Carly. Hope you enjoy it! Mine will be shivery and, potentially, white. But you never know about the snow here. We’re just far enough south that it’s touch and go for Christmas.
Wowsa! I’m impressed, Bec. We went last weekend, but still have more to go. Hoping to get it finished this Sunday. Fingers crossed!
Go, Penny! (Tell me about Boxing Day. I’ve heard snippets, but I’d love to know more.)
That sounds like a terrific tradition, Chelsey! Hope you hit a wonderful movie!

I’m moving my nearly all my stuff to my parents’ house to prepare for a probable job layoff at the end of April. O.o; Guess I should play ‘I’ll be home for christmas’ as I drive on south. I’ll also be hunting for a room to rent for two months before the end of this month, and another for another two months when my work moves in March, before I’ll probably be stuck with the folks, hunting for work.
I think I’ll give them a rather large assortment of personalized ‘Free Labor/Chores’ coupons for Xmas to show my gratitude, what do you think? *wink*

Boxing day is the day after xmas, and a public holiday here. Tradionally in our family we’ve had a BBQ with family and friends. A lot of people head away on this day for summer holiday as well.
The name boxing day comes from the tradion of the lords giving the surfs a xmas box on this day. New Zealand, most of Aus and the UK have it as a public holiday. Its also St Stephens day.

Hey Jennifer!I’m happy to see your back in the swing of things:o) I love train sets! Oh yeah I know how you feel about the hip gauging thing because everytime I pass by my side table in the living room I hit the corner of the table with my hip and it in turn shakes the fish bowl thats sitting on top and of course the water spills!(yeah I got side table from Ikea and not that sturdy) I swear the fish gives me a dirty look *giggle* I guess I don’t blame him too much:o)I’m probably like Godzilla to my fish…There I go rambling again…Okay lost my train of thought…Oh yeah a big prechristmas thing we do in our fam is make pasteles(Puerto Rican tamale). Its nice because we all get together make pasteles (alot of work by the way!)and talk, laugh, drink *a little* lol! Its a good time and a nice Christmas tradition for us:o)For my first married Christmas I have decided to buy a real tree( no more artificial trees for me)! Yay! super excited about that. I hope at least it snows here for christmas. That would be nice:o)

Shoot, zanheltangia, I’m so sorry to hear that! I’ll just hope that move ends up leading you to your dream career then.
Sounds awesome, Penny! The first time I heard of Boxing Day–when I was a teenager–I couldn’t figure out why you’d arrange an entire holiday around two dudes slugging it out in the ring, though I heartily approved. (Because I’m for pretty much any excuse to celebrate!) But this makes a lot more sense. I hope your Boxing Day BBQ is extra delicious and full of good cheer this year!
Hey Stephanie! Your family tradition sounds like super fun! And your fish is, no doubt, telegraphing horror stories about you to the other neighborhood fish even as we speak! (Hilarious!) Have fun!
December 16th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
Wow its weird to hear of someone who didn’t know what boxing day is. Although its usually not that fun in my household as we are travelling to the beach (5 of us stuck in a car with us three kids trying not to fight isn’t much fun) We do get great boxing day sales where everything is cheaper than the pre xmas sales.

Can’t wait till xmas =D, I don’t really have any plans this year =/ Its my personal tradition to have a poke at the presents under the tree though =D lol
