Ole’!
I just found out that a house in Spain has bought the right to publish Once Bitten, Twice Shy! (I promise I’ll learn the flamenco just as soon as I get one of those kickass skirts!) What I’m looking forward to even more is that you native speakers will now have a chance to read Jaz’s first adventure and then report back to me how you say, “Holy crap!” in Spanish.
I really should know. I took three years of the dern language in high school. Probably the reason I can’t remember more than a few words is that I didn’t go on the class trip to Spain. I thought about it. But since my parents expected me to pay, and I wanted a car worse, guess which one I chose. Yeah. A pea green Plymouth Duster that drank oil like a boozehound at Mardis Gras. It got me where I wanted to go, though. Finally sold it for a hundred bucks to a guy who wanted it for the parts. Never will forget that car. It had bench seats, which were great for making out. And that’s all I’m saying about that!
So what about your first vehicle? Love of your life, or four tires and a hunka steel you’d still like to take a hammer to? Let’s hear your first-time driving stories!
32 Days Until Brentwood, MO (Borders) Book Signing (Aug 17th, 3-5 p.m.)
Here’s an idea to make the event memorable! We could give everybody who shows up in costume a pair of fake vampire teeth, preferably the ones that glow in the dark!

Fake teeth are fun, but what if we called in an oral surgeon and gave everyone real vampire teeth? It’d be great we could all go home and the bejezzes out of our families. Isn’t that a great word. Bejezzes. It’s just one of those words that make you want to laugh when you hear it. It also makes me want to read the dictionary. Or I should say read the dictionary some more. I kind of do it all the time. I am a pitiful excuse for a human.
First car: a little Ford truck that my mom gave me. Love it, but I’m sorry I’ve never made out in it. Unless you count that time my dog slobbered all over my face. Personally I’d say that was more of an impromtu shower.

Nikki, you are going to scare the crap out of me, I can just tell! When your spirit shows, make sure she’s singing something rollicking so I don’t have a heart attack!
Thanks for the translation, Gareth! It almost sounds too pretty to be a mild curse!
Kalea, I used to read the dictionary too. So you’re in good–or possibly weird–company! Hilarious truck story, btw. I think you’re supposed to make out in the back of them, though I’ve never had that experience so I can’t tell you for sure. Maybe guys just call them ‘beds’ out of sheer optimism.

July 17th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
No, no, it’s perfect! With all this talk of spirits and diamonds? I’m pretty sure you’re channeling Jaz’s fifth adventure, One More Bite!

I remember that one–wouldn’t read it after dark! If I remember correctly, there’s another one by the same author, Red Dragon, maybe? So evil, after I was finished I had to get the book out of the house. Only time I’ve ever done that, and I’ve read a ton of books.

Holy Crap means “Anda pal carajo!!
In Puerto Rico we say “Anda pal candao!!! or my favorite “Jodia Mierda”
=-)

Okay, that’s just too fun! I can actually hear Jaz saying it, too, can’t you? Maybe with a little extra spit to make her point?

Ok so I just saw The Dark Knight and oh my good lord it was the greatest movie I have ever seen in my entire life! Better than Ironman, better than Star Wars, better than Captain Picard(Star Trek Next Generation) who is a personal hero of mine, and even better than the Batman Begins movie which made my life. Everyone go see it now. I mean right now. Stop reading this and go to the movie theater. Your life will never be complete without it. BATMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
July 19th, 2008 at 4:06 am
So youre saying it might be worth spending the cash on then Kalea. LOL
July 19th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
Okay, I’m ashamed to say I haven’t even seen Batman begins yet. The other ones just turned me off so badly I didn’t even want to try. But you’re changing my mind now. I always did enjoy spiritually scarred heroes!
July 19th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
It is totally worth spending the money to go see. Yeah I know the old Batmans were kinda lame, but you just have to love Batman for his depth and slight insanity. He is my favorite and if I don’t stop myself now I’ll talk about the philosophy and mediphor of Batman until the cows come home. That could be a long time since I have no cows.
July 20th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
you know i would go and see it except the town i live in doesn’t have a movie cinema…but never fear i am moving this weekend and will be penciling in time to see the new batman movie! (im sure my partner won’t mind lol)
and yes Thomas Harris has written Red Dragon (which is actually before silence of the lambs) and then the hannible and then the hannible rising…i have a lot of reading to do….arghhhh lol can’t wait!

Hello all. I apologize for just dropping in like this, when the conversations are getting very good. I have never read Thomas Harris, and I’ve been interested in his serial killer lore in the past, and always wondered if it’s worth reading. I’m just finishing Biting the Bullet though, so I might just be able to get started on Red Dragon. I’m going to try and go see The Dark Knight, I have also been dieing to see Wanted. Was it really that good? I need a good Saturday night thriller.
