What’s in a name?

Everything, sometimes.  For instance, if we substituted the word “gummed” for “bitten” in the title of Jaz’s new adventure, Bitten to Death, I think we could be pretty sure the mission would not involve anyone under the age of eighty.

10 Days Until Terre Haute, IN Signing (Waldenbooks-8/16/08 2-4 p.m.)

Here’s an idea to make the event memorable! Everybody shows up in prom dresses–even the guys.  Ha!

Speaking of Bitten to Death, I just found this on Amazon:

Bitten to Death (Jaz Parks, Book 4) by Jennifer Rardin (Paperback – Aug 12, 2008)
    Buy new: $12.99 $10.39
    2 Used & new from $10.39
Get it by Friday, Aug 8 if you order in the next 9 hours and choose one-day shipping.

Released August 12th… get it August 8th?

You’re right, Amazon is awesome. I’m kind of wondering whether my trusty bookstore might have it in now, actually. Might go and check later! Last time I went two weeks before the release date and they’d already sold their first stock.

LOL at gummed to death though. It reminds me of my grandmother – she’s developed hayfever at the age of 72 and I’m fairly sure she thinks the world is ending.

    LOL!!

You could always substitute Bitten for Nipped. That might be interesting and could involve something pretty darn weird. LOL

Incidently I assume that in “G2D” the car chase (well anything over 30 miles an hour is highspeed at 80. LOL) would end at four as its time for a cup of tea. LOL Then again it could also involve those mobility scooters? Could make an interesting film. LOL

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! My amazon shipped my very imported Bitten To Death this morning at 11. I might hold it in my hands tomorrow. *does a dance* I can’t wait to reeeeead it! :D

  5. jrardin Says:

Wow, that’s fast! I’ve only just heard from my first American fan who’s read it. Hope you enjoy the adventure!

  6. Phoebe Says:

LOL, Gareth, especially if they’re English! We have to work everything around my grandmother’s favourite time for tea.

So, I ended up spending an unfortunate amount on Amazon US for shipping. BUT I should get it on Tuesday morning, which is great because I’m going to London on Tuesday afternoon and train journeys are known to be boring.

Hope your American fan was happy with it!

Gareth, your post reminded me of the scooter-jockeys we encountered at Disney. OMG! Some old gal was in such a rush she ran over a kid’s foot! Not even kidding! (No injuries, just the rest of us looking at the offender like, WTH?) So, despite the fact that the car chase would be slow-mo, it would be freaking hilarious!

Phoebe, you are a lovely, lovely human being to fork over that much dough for a quicker look at Bitten to Death. I hope it takes you exactly where you wanted to go! As for my American fans, so far the feedback is fab! (Hope this continues. If not, I’m going to have to go kick my muse square in the ass!)

Hey, anybody else watching the opening ceremonies of the Olympics? Drums that light up? How cool is that?

  8. Phoebe Says:

*brain explodes* It’s… ummm… big. *confused* In fact, I just got it and it won’t even fit on the shelf Jaz is on, I may have to rearrange!

LOL. Are the American books bigger or is this one bigger than the rest? *tries to compare text sizes and spacing*

  9. jrardin Says:

LOL! Okay, Phoebe, what you have there is called a trade paperback, which is the size they’re selling over here in America. Yup, the whole series is that big over here. In Europe they’re selling a size they call mass market. Smaller and a lot more commonly seen. But not nearly as flashy, yeah?

No, not all American books are that big. Most paperbacks are printed in the mass market size. My publisher decided Americans would eat up the Jaz series in the larger size, so there ya go. Collector’s item, girl!

  10. Phoebe Says:

I see! It’s shiny! Literally, LOL.

Awesome work, Jennifer, I think you’ve outdone yourself there! The Jaz/Vayl interaction was particularly awesome. I think the pages were warm, haha! *showers you with confetti for a great job*

I need to reread to decide what I want to say ultimately – one thing I did have a little giggle at though. Do you know what “fanny” means in Commonwealth (UK, Aus etc) English?

  11. jrardin Says:

Oh geez, I am afraid to ask. Okay, hit me. What’s ‘fanny’ mean?

  12. Phoebe Says:

You should be afraid to ask. It means… well, vagina. Which is why I was kind of taken aback for a moment at Jaz wiping dust off it, LOL! Then I remembered that you’re American and sighed in relief.

  13. jrardin Says:

Oh. My. God. Okay, world? I totally mean rear end when I say the word ‘fanny’ which, by the way, I hope never to use again in another book of mine. Geez. See the trouble I get myself into? Seriously. If I ever come to Europe, one of you guys is going to have to chaperone me day and night just to prevent an international incident! Thanks, Phoebe!

  14. Phoebe Says:

LOL! I thought you might react to it like that. Sorry to be the one to break that to you!

  15. jrardin Says:

No, no, these are the things I need to know if I’m going to write for the world! Plus it turned into a pretty hilarious moment at the live chat last night! So, really, thanks. I appreciate knowing!

(BTW, somebody told me you have an interesting meaning related to the phrase fanny pack, which in the US is a very dorky pouch worn around the belt; used in the place of a purse. I had one when we went to Disney, just in case nobody in the Kissimee area could tell I was a total nerd to start with.)
