Your Turn

I’m burying myself in The Deadliest Bite this week, hoping to fully finish it, so puh-leeze carry the torch for me this week and let me know . . . what kind of series would you like to see from me next?

How about some more of the same, I know I’m real original, but, I have to say I think you’ve created such a unique spin on mythology, why not stick with Vampires, Demons, etc. I’d like to see more.
    IMHO.

  2. Emma Says:

Sorry, just had another thought, Jaz’s guardian…I can’t remember his name, sorry. What about a spin off with him and his choo-choo set. lol

  3. BookWhisperer Says:

That is such a hard question for die hard fans that are in love with this series. Though, I have to say that you could take a leap away from Vampires, and look more toward a different species.

I like the comment from Emma on Jaz’s guardian, but the name escapes me as well.

  4. jrardin Says:

Raoul–yeah, I’m sure his adventures are quite interesting.

  5. Marissa Turner Says:

Raoul would be a lot of fun I think.

  6. Catherine Says:

I liked the idea of using a different species. Maybe you could explore the weres that were in Book 4? Such as Trayton and his pack? (I think that’s the right word.) Or, you could go completly away from the field and write something that has nothing to do with mythological creatures. You could write a ‘normal’ romance, but with something extra to make it stand out.

How many books are there going to be in the Jaz Parks series?

  7. Kalimera030 Says:

    Raoul would be nice.
I’d love to see Jaz’s adventures from Vayl’s POV, too…

  8. Zita Says:

How about a supernatural PI series, with maybe a ghost side-kick. Kind of a noir thing, but with demons and such. And speaking of demons, how about more May?

  9. Wendy Says:

I don’t care what series you write next, I’ll read it no matter what it is!!

I liked how you took Jaz and co. over to Scotland in One More Bite and how you used the culture to add to the story/characters. I read somewhere you did the samething when you took them to Australia. Maybe you could do more “re-writting” of the truth behind the folklore/culture from other countries, see/show how the might be all interconnected?

  10. Lenka Says:

I´d love to read more about Raoul as well. Then maybe Cole´s mother or Jazz´s grandmother or even Cassandra but I agree with Wendy – whatever You write next, I´ll read it!

  11. Carly Says:

oh man Raoul would b so cool but so would Coles mother, or Granny May, or Cassandra and i really like Zitas idea of the supernatural PI with the ghost sidekick it would b epic!but whatever u right i will read. =P ur amazing

  12. Meredith Says:

I would love to see inside Vayl’s head too. His thoughts would be great to know.

  13. Sophie Says:

You always ask the difficult questions Jen! I have to agree i would read anything you can come up with, but maybe something about a private investigator like Zita said! Or maybe something with demons walking among us kind of thing?

I’m so bad at this, clearly i’m not meant to be a writer!

  14. Ileana V.A. Says:

How about more on vayl?? maybe jaz, vayl, and the gang take a trip to vayl’s hometown to investigate the Blajini or something? from what my grandmother tells me, they’re weird looking and can either be good or bad. i live in brasov romania and it would be a TREAT to read something about my home from someone as creative as you, jen :)

    <3 Lena

  15. Cas Says:

Oh, um (sound of brains rattling) – how about sort of the opposite as Jaz’s world? As in, instead of inhumans on Earth, maybe something in the far future where humans are living, oh, I don’t know, on Mars or something?
But I don’t mind, whatever it is, because if it’s written by you, it’s bound to be good. :)

  16. Hil Says:

How about something where Cassandra is kind of the connector? What I mean is, explore the psychic world, and though I love Cassandra, just use her as like the connection back to Jaz and co. but have a different psychic as the main character. That way you could mollify some of us Jaz diehards with familiar faces but could easily lure in new readers as their prior knowledge of Cassandra wouldn’t be required.

    Either way, I’ll be reading!

  17. jrardin Says:

You guys have some of the neatest ideas! Hoping you like my new ones just as well!

  18. Tori Says:

How about a book of short stories ahem, already written, so they’ll match on my bookshelf ;)

I’d like to read more about Cole’s mom too. She seemed to have some stories!

  19. Beth Says:

I will definately read anything you write, I like the idea about Raoul but instead of a spin-off series just about him, perhaps just focusing on his race (angels/guardians whatever they are??:) with new main characters but with like cameo appearances from Raoul etc????? Maybe something like that would be cool, I dont know XP
if none of that made sense i mean like focusing on the hole heaven/hell kinda thing or maybe like a prequel about the first spirit guardians etc…???
Whatever you choose it will be amazing!

  20. Penny W Says:

I agree with pretty much everyone before me :-D Stay in Jaz’s world, you could go Raoul, Granny May, Coles Mum, Cassandra, the were wolves, gnomes, etc.

  21. Vale Says:

I love vampires and I love romance, so I’d LOOOVE anything with those two, especially coming from you! And I’d really really love getting some stories from Vayl’s pov. Gosh, it’ll be hard when Jaz’s series end!!! *flinches at the thought of the series ending* But I agree with what the others said: no matter what you write, I’ll check it out!

  22. Liz Says:

What are you leaning towards so that maybe we could vote on our preferances. After all you will be doing all the hard work, so it only seems right to choose from your preferances.

  23. jrardin Says:

Sorry, Liz, that’s Top Secret right now. I was just curious about your interests.

  24. Lola d Says:

That’s really a hard question…so many authors that I’ve reed usually write something completely different from their former books. (Usually about other planets etc.)
    But how about a wiser, older (not too much older, still loves red high-tops & bubble gum) Cole & his adventures after working with Vayl & Jaz. Maybe he has a new companion of the female persuasion. Maybe a werewolf? Or he could be working for Vayl & Jaz because they’ve taken over. What ever it is I hope that you continue to write something that makes me “LAUGH OUT LOUD” & just hate to put the book down till I’ve reed from cover to cover!!! :}

  25. Jacy Syrus Says:

It’s simple and probably been suggested already, but how about Jaz and Vayl’s adventures after they join with Bergman? I remember reading in Bite Marks how he talked about them becoming mercenaries working with him. It would certainly put a new spin on their work, not having to worry about the government constantly looking over their shoulders and influencing their missions. But that’s just a suggestion from a simple reader who enjoys your work. Whatever you do, I’m sure it willl be nothing less than epic, J.R.

Keep up the good work, and know that out there are always people who will support you.

    Yours, In Confidence,

    Jacy Syrus

  26. Jennifer Rardin Says:

Very cool ideas! BTW, I’ve finished the major editing on “The Deadliest Bite” and am now on page 71 of the final edit before submitting. Can I get a YEAH, BABY?

  27. Vale Says:

HELL YEAH, BABY!! Jen, you’re great!! Can we convince Orbit to anticipate the release date, since you’re doing such a good work? Maybe if we fans do a petition? :-)

  28. Jo Says:

Bring it on …….Anything you write will be greatly anticipated… the first series is awesome

  29. Sorwen Says:

I would read something from Val’s point of view. I prefer Vampires, psychic powers, or magic. Fantasy/Urban Fantasy. However whatever you write keep the nice balance you have. Right now you have enough adventure for those of us that want that without over done romance you some times find in these types of books so the books have been enjoyable. I’ve had to avoid some author’s spin offs and second series because they decided to move too much towards the romance and left readers like me behind.

  30. Sophie Says:

I second Vales suggestion, i’ll petition everyone if i get to read it quicker :) !

  31. Tirzah Says:

I would lovee to hear it from Vayle’s POV!! But I think you would do a really kick-ass (sorry for cussing) werewolf series!! Or a faerie series… But again I would lovee to hear it from vayle’s POV!!

  32. Jacy Syrus Says:

*raises his glass to the author* Since I’m not prone to very loud outbursts, I’ll substitute my ‘Hell Yeah’ for that, if you don’t mind. Eagerly awaiting reading it.

  33. jrardin Says:

Aw, Jacy, considering that the last person to toast me threw his piece of burnt whole wheat in my direction, I will gladly accept!

  34. Mandy Says:

I too would read anything u wrote, but I like the idea of a spin off story/stories. Maybe trayton gets in trouble and asks jaz for help? Roual asks jaz to help him with something up there and she has to leave the gang for a while? Love all the other suggestions as well x

  35. Kalimera030 Says:

I did it today, I was thiking of the Jaz’s declaration (that explains the quote…). I hope you’ll like it!

  36. Priscilla Says:

I like all the ideas listed above. Maybe you could add a pixie in there? I’ve been craving a good book with an awesome heroine, vampires, and a pixie.

  37. Jaden3 Says:

I’m gonna go the complete opposite of everyone here, and say I’d love to read more about the Helsingers, and Matt, and Jaz’s brother.. Before she met Vayl.. although Vayl could be a murky, mystical character in the background.. ;)

  38. Deenie Says:

I’m agreeing with Jaden3, I really want the Helsinger back story! and maybe more about when she lived with her parents? I’m a sucker for a good backstory…
    Gotta ask, though…werewolves?

  39. Erica Says:

I love the series, what ever you do please keep with Jaz. Sometimes i like spin offs, but its to early for that in my opinion, you have so much more to go into with them and i liked some of the comments about bringing the were’s back and her brother of course….. just please keep jaz in the loop. need more.

  40. Jesse Says:

How about something featuring heroes that are *not* super/occult powered. People that deal in this world by their wits and planning.

  41. Cazeres Says:

It would be great to hear more about the secondary character’s from Jaz’s books – perhaps spin off series about Raoul, the Helsingers, maybe also some stories from Vlad’s perspective. i think it would be a shame to loose the characters that we’ve been introduced to in Jaz’s stories.
