Spoilage

Hope you all did something amazing for yourselves this weekend!  My gift to myself was forty-eight hours of family fun that included watching my son march in a field show and visiting my daughter at college where I got to hear her sing in a musical review.  (Okay, there was also a Butterfinger milkshake and a helping of peanut butter chocolate mousse that I will have to spend the entire week running off—but damn it was worth it!)

So how did you spend your weekend?  Highlights pleeze!

HI! I’m french, living in the Paris subburbs. wa havehad a nice sunny week end overhere, a bit chilled but then.. sunny. and guess what I did on sunday, all day long… I just read your book, ” once bitten twice shy ” in french of course, that I just found by chance some days ago. I do Love that book!!! really!!! And I’m looking for the next one but I’m afraid I can’t find one right now in France, and in french.. Can I??? ;-(((
    anyway… love
    Evelyne

Evelyne, my jaw literally dropped when I read your post! That is superbly wonderful news! I was just going to do a blog this week talking about the new french-language translation of Once Bitten. So very glad you liked it!

My understanding is that Milady, who published the first book, is planning to translate at least the next two books in the series. Hopefully they’ll take off big in France and you’ll get a chance to read all eight (or more–who knows at this point??) but I think it’s wait and see at this point.

Thanks so much for touching base with me! Glad you had a sunny weekend as well!

Sadly, I had to do the whole ‘woman’ thing and clean. My shower is now white, but I had no free time (add in laundry, floors, cooking, dishes, grocery shopping). I should have some free time next week, but I’m only counting on one day of it :-)

  4. Evelyne Says:

What a wonderful news!! so I’ve just got to wait for the following books – not too long I hope ;-) ) now I know your site I come regurlarly and wait for your blog about the french translation of your book I really love -I hardly can’t wait for reading the end of the book- I’m not far yet – I do hope you understand my “english”.
    all the best

  5. jrardin Says:

Aargh, Marissa, I am deeply frustrated for you! I’ve taken to cleaning in short, intense bursts since most of my days seem to be devoted to writing or traveling lately. This method works, but not as fast. At the moment only two out of nine of my fridge shelves are sparkly! (“Slow but sure, said the turtle to the hare!”)

So glad you’re excited about the books, Evelyne! And your english is fabulous! MUCH better than my french (which is limited to “yes”, “one, two, three” and one swear word which I won’t repeat here, but which my daughter taught me this weekend–she’s studied french in school and sings opera quite a bit, so she’s much more familiar with the language)!

  6. Marissa Turner Says:

I know just enough French to get myself slapped. Same with Spanish, German, and Gaelic.

I’m great to take to bars, but don’t expect me to be lady-like :-D

  7. nikki Says:

my weekend was pretty average. i studied…and studied…and oh hey i did some study! argh can’t wait till i finish uni then i’ll be a working class girl! sunday was good my partner banned me from opening any text books so i was allowed to read anything i wanted, i was like a young girl in a candy shop!. I started re-reading Twilight ( i just love that series) im not sure if anyof you heard about steph’s “midnight sun” but her draft was leaked over the net…the injustice of it all, that person needs a slap across the head!
ok, im done now have a great day!!!!!!!!

  8. jrardin Says:

    LOL, Marissa!

I remember the studying days, Nikki. Hang in there–well worth it! I loved the first Twilight book. Got furious with the second and refused to read any others. Let my daughter tell me what happened. Really sorry to hear some jerk leaked her draft though. That’s a huge invasion for her as well as an attack on her livelihood. Wish they could catch jerks like that.

  9. Caitlin Says:

My weekend was really limited to sunday as I work on a Saturday (college hours drain me of a chance to work anything else with the exception of Wednesday). So when Sunday came I had a lay-in till 10 ( thats huge for me, and my mum came over at 1ish and we had roast dinner. Does anyone else wonder if a roast dinner is worth all the washing up afterwards???
Then hit the hay at 10 as i need to get up at 6.

  10. jrardin Says:

Your Sunday sounds lovely, Caitlin. As far as roast dinner cleanup goes, I generally don’t think any big dinner is worth the afterwork–unless somebody else has done all the cooking. And then I tend not to mind at all!

  11. Adele/Toast Says:

Just finished Once Bitten and am reporting back to say loved it. Adding the rest to my must read list.

  12. Carolin Says:

Sadly my weekend didn’t entail a whole lot of relaxation, though I really need it. Damn our weather getting more autumnish already and my body deciding that a cold is the right reaction to it! *shakes head*

Anyway, we’re getting a new kitchen – after our 35 year old one is WELL overdue an upgrade and so we spent nearly the whole weekend carrying heavy stuff around and cleaning, cleaning… cleaning! Oh well, I’m sure it’ll be well worth it once we finally get the new kitchen. :) And there’s still the next weekend in just… three work days that I hope will turn out to be more relaxing than the last one! :D

  13. jrardin Says:

Yay, we have another convert in Adele! Next…the world!

Yes, Carolin, I am voting for hours upon hours of R&R for you next weekend. I knew you all needed someone to remind you that you deserved it!

  14. Kitty Says:

This weekend was spent between three things: Homework (Why did I choose Psychology and Latin? Why? I MUST be the masochist I am told I represent.), Real-world Work (CURSE the being who thought of waitressing as an occupation!), and finding “Once Bitten, Twice Shy” in Barnes and Nobles’. I have to say, a LOT of vampire novels tend to lean towards the cheesy or the simply moronic, but your book leans towards something else entirely, and to top it off, with a sarcastic finesse that I thought was hilarious. I am recommending it to my friends and put the rest of the series on my Must Read list. As soon as I get a Homework/Real-World Work Lite weekend, I fully intend on reading the rest of the series that is out. I applaud you, J Rardin, and look forward to reading the rest of the series. :)

  15. Penny Says:

Well, in the madness that is a weekend here, I got a lie in on Sunday morning (yippeee) and a chance to sit in the sun on the deck and read a book while the roast dinner did its thing :-D But best of all was yesterday morning, when a group of us girls got together at our fav cafe for coffee and pink macarrons and disscussed such earth shattering things as how good looking Obama is, and our husbands and kids. :-)

  16. jrardin Says:

Wahoo, Kitty! You’re my kinda girl! And not just because you’re into Jaz (although, I admit, that plays a part). Also because I was a waitress for six years. Hey, it paid my rent all the way through college, so maybe it was worth the occasional nightmare I STILL have!

I’m liking your spoilage pretty well, Penny. Sounds like you’ve got it figured out!

  17. Chelsea Says:

Haha Well…I did chores and homework. Yay? Well, I did get to talk to my Caleb. ^^ [I think I'm falling?] So that made it all worth it!

I have never heard of peanut butter mousse. But it sounds good!

  18. Eeyore Says:

Well as I am 11weeks preggie, my treat for myself was to crawl back into bed after only being up for one hour LOL When I did venture out of bed Melbourne put on a beautiful spring day and I spent it in the garden with Miss 2 and we dug for worms. Awsome fun.

  19. jrardin Says:

I thought that was love I smelled in the air, Chelsea (rose petals with a hint of cinnamon)! Peanut butter mousse is sinfully delish–glad the helping was small!

Congrats, Eeyore! Sleeping is better than puking, of which I did much of both with my daughter!

  20. Allie Says:

I’m a new Jaz addict… I’ll have to admit. I randomly saw Once Bitten when I was walking through Borders, and I finished it the same night. I just finished reading the fourth book, (it took me 3 days to read all 4!) And now I’m chomping at the bit for the next installment. You truly have a gift Jennifer… fantastic reading!

Oh, and to stay on topic, I spent my weekend working to make sure that we were done in time for the September 15th tax deadline. (i.e. today makes 10 days straight working… is it friday yet??)

  21. jrardin Says:

Wow, Allie, I’m just blown away by your ability to inhale books! So psyched you’re enjoying the series too! One More Bite will be out in January, so not long to wait really.

Bummed for you about the working, working, working though. Hope your next day off is a doozey!

  22. Cas Says:

Sigh, well in Aus it’s still the weekdays, which is a huge bummer, especially for year 11 students- EXAMS!

Oh how I loathe studying; puts a downcast on your week. I only have Physics and Software to study for though, which is good. This weekend however is dedicated to reading on all the novels and stories I have missed out on! (Salvation shall be mine!)…and preparing for year 12 *shudder*.

And then next week I have this program called crossroads for 3 days, sounds boring but yeah (lol). I also have an assignment due on the last day of school! …(note to self: complete assignment on weekend)… Then finally THE HOLIDAYS!! Which means I can [finally] get BTD! Hehe, so excited.

Anyway this is just me procrastinating; I should really be studying because I don’t know anything about Physics, yikes!

But yes other than studying all of this week and the past one or two, my life has thus been dull and boring and my brain has gone into overload; it’s frying!

Oh and I’m so glad to here that Jaz and the gang will be in Sydney (well around anyway) in the 6th book ^^ AND congrats on the signage with Orbit, you now get to write 3 more books for your 110% devoted followers! Hahaha (excuse my behaviour if it seems too…quirky? I think I might be high on sugar, but what I proclaimed is true nonetheless!).

ANYWAY I think I hear the textbook calling me; apparently that is all I’m allowed to read until the end of tomorrow.

So good luck with all the writing, though you won’t need it, but all the same it’s the thought that counts right? (Sorry for such a long response, hehe) and hope you enjoy the rest of you week!

  23. jrardin Says:

Hey, Cas, if I had to study for Physics I’d definitely be looking forward to some time off as well! Best of luck on your exams and hope your holidays rock!

  24. Cas Says:

Hey, thanks, I need all the luck I can get! And my holidays will definately rock as soon as sink my err…eyes… into books, hahaha.

  25. Phoebe Says:

Just did my last day at the high school I’ve been volunteering at. They’ve been SO good to me there. The kids have looked so SAD when I said it was my last day, and when I was saying goodbye to the staff I think I practically RAN out of the room before I started crying in front of them, lol.

As an aside, I just got an Amazon recommendation by email for One More Bite – four months before its release date? LOL

  26. jrardin Says:

Aren’t kids awesome? My hubby (who teaches grades three through five) is always coming home with the best stories.

Amazon must be uber-efficient. I’m trying to think of what else I need to know four months in advance. Got it! The date of the season premiere of Torchwood. (Can’t wait! Who else thinks Martha is going to replace Owen as the new doc?)

  27. Allie Says:

Thanks for the response Jennifer! Inhaling books the way I do is fantastic for my vocabulary and mind, and horrible on my pocket book. Oh well. I am definitely looking forward to the release of One More Bite (especially as I have become so invested in the Vayl/Jaz relationship!). And, by the way, it is Friday!!! *happy dance* I’m leaving work in 2 hours, and then I’ll actually have a weekend and no work. (That can be read as I’ll actually have a weekend and bliss)…

    hehe
