“I wanted to do something that was based on the relationship that Jaz and Vayl share, but until the fourth book, was coming up… well… with painter’s block. In the fourth book however, when they were dressed up in all the Vampere stuff and whispering the poem together, it hit me. It made me think of the line from Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ A2,scVI; “These violent delights have violent ends And in their triumph die. like fire and powder, Which, as they kiss, consume.”
Okay, so I replaced powder with ice for Vayl, as a vampire, and Jaz’ ability to kill. The fire is their passion for echother, which all of it put together, in my opinion, will consume them both. But in a good way. It’s a loose interpretation… whatcha gonna do? ”
