    OMG!

    The cover is amazing!

    I am SOOOO thrilled!

    Congratulations, Jennifer!

  2. SciFiGuy [Doug Knipe] Says:

You have one of the most distinctive sets of covers in Urban Fantasy. The newest is great. It is fascinating to see the behind the scenes process. Looking forward to reading this.

  3. Kalea Says:

I really like the cover, except for the color combination of the letters. Purple and gold? What?

  4. Marissa Turner Says:

    *insert awed ‘ooo’ sound here*

    I like it. :-)

  5. Vale Says:

Wow! That’s cool! Crossbow in plain sight!
I also liked the one with your name on a red band, though. (And Jaz isn’t a lefthander, is she? Or am I mistaken?)

  6. Nicole Says:

Amazing! Looks good and the Photoshop work is much better than the last cover.
What color red do you picture Jaz’s hair being?

  7. Rox! Says:

Beautiful! And glad they got the hair right this time :)

  8. gtpeach Says:

It’s beautiful, but where is the grey streak from her visit to Hell? Hair’s a bit brighter red than I imagined it being.

  9. jrardin Says:

Glad you like it, Summer. Me too!

I agree, SciFiGuy. Still some tweaking to do on the story, but I believe it will take you to new places!

Those were my high school colors, Kalea. Do you think they were trying to dredge up some author sentimentality?

    Great to hear, Marissa!

Jaz is ambidextrous, Vale, although she prefers to shoot Grief with her right hand. Of course, the crossbow shown isn’t Grief.

Nicole, I picture Jaz’s hair as somewhat lighter and, of course, curly. But that’s okay. I don’t think covers need to be exact. They just need to convey the feel of the story. And I think mine do a masterful job.

    Glad you like it, Rox!

And there you prove an important point, gtpeach. We all have our own vision of Jaz, which is wonderful to me. No picture’s going to be right for everyone. And if they do a movie, no actress is going to look perfect. But I think the core of the message is what we all get. In that cover it’s pretty clear our Jaz is a badass beauty, prepared to do battle with whatever crosses her path. (And by beauty, I don’t necessarily mean physically. I think she’s amazing inside–if we could see her when she visits Raoul’s pad I think we’d weep at her glory. And if she heard me say any of this she’d roll her eyes and tell me I really needed to eat something, because clearly my blood sugar had dropped below safe levels!)

  10. Gareth Says:

So lurvly, hows the household picture front doing now Jenn? Do you have a whole selection of book covers framed? Still think we should get a chance to make a cover of our own though using original pics. Would be good fun.

*Shoves some of her freshly bought girl scout thin mints in your direction as she munches on some of them herself*

Very, very awesome. I like that they put that the guard on her right arm instead of leaving it uncovered, almost as much as I like the crossbow. I’ve wielded a more ‘traditional’ bow, but I’d like to get my hands on that to give target practice another try.

Looking at the cover just makes me wish I was ten years younger. A thirteen year old pretending to sneak around the woods while talking to herself would gather less attention than a twenty-three year old I bet. And the cover just makes me want to pretend some mischief. I knew I should have joined that LARP when my brother did, *laughs*

Oh, and I like how they muted that boot buckle. Nothing says amateur like a flashing bit of metal while y’er trying to be stealthy. Gosh. Is it October yet??? ^^v;;; I am so excited about your book!

  12. jrardin Says:

Okay, Gareth, I’ll admit it to you. I have the first four covers framed and hanging on the wall behind this very PC. Waiting to get hard copy of number six before I put the next two up because, ya know, me likey the symmetry. Never tire of looking at them, either! As for your idea, pitch it to Orbit (www.orbitbooks.net), dude. You never know!

I can almost hear the whole cover crew sighing with relief as they read your post, zanheltangia. “Yes! We got it right!”

  13. Meryl Says:

Love the new cover, I think that it is totally awesome. I can’t wait to actually see the inside of the book. I got chills anticipating what other covers you have in sotre. You said that you were going from girly to more…she-ra or red sonya (we’re probably not going to see Jaz in a fur bikni or an iron mesh micro mini) but what are you thinking for covers in the future…more knives, guns, maybe even a bazooka joe moment? Oh well, may the Gods of all that is wonderful in the world (coffee, chocolate, mexican and chinese food, sugar, etc. ) may shine down upon all who comment and the one behind our maddening obsession of one the best supernatural teams since the scooby squad, Buffy and team, Angel investigations, and the Winchester brothers…Jennifer Rardin. Amen. Peace, Love and Death Metal. TTFN.

  14. Zita Hildebrandt Says:

I love the cover! And now that it’s done, that means the book will be in stores by next week, right? Right? *sigh*

  15. jrardin Says:

I’m not sure what the cover gurus have in store for Jaz, Meryl, but I anticipate that it’ll be amazing!

Oh, no, that would be bad, bad, bad, Zita! Gimme some time to do tweakage! (My daughter’s read the manuscript, and she liked it. But it’s not ready for you guys. You should see the list of pages where I need to go back and make little fixes!)

  16. Summer Says:

Oh Zita, sweetie. No… First things first.
You need to acknowledge that you need help, like I did.
Then together we could go to the JazVayl-It’s JenniferRardin’s Fault Support Group meeting for, like forever; but really only until this October.
(no offense meant— I’m just hooked–)
    [Summer needs help!]

  17. jrardin Says:

    LMAO!!

  18. Eimear Says:

OMG!! is this gna b the for real cover?

  19. Taylor (: Says:

    The cover looks great (:
But, I kinda like the one where the woman is standing up a bit better.
The blood looks a lot more real then the others, too (:
Oh, I’m thrilled! I can’t wait until Bite Marks.

P.S: Are you gonna put it up in the ‘My Books’ bit soon?
& also, I’ve got the different cover for OBTS, the one with the lips? Why’d they change it? Is that one still around?
    (:

  20. Carolin Says:

OMG. I love it, it looks so gorgeous. It’s also REALLY interesting to see the different covers they made to choose from. REALLY cool .

  21. jrardin Says:

    That’s the one, Eimear!

Yeah, Taylor, the cover for Bite Marks should appear on my website as soon as everything is finalized. The cover for Once Bitten Twice shy (with the lips) was used solely for books released in the UK. Originally they were going to use it for the US editions as well, but they changed their minds and went with the present cover, which you see a portion of every time you click into my website.

I agree Carolin. I was fascinated.

  22. Andie Says:

Beautiful! Now I’m even more excited for it!!! :-D

  23. Meryl Says:

Will you post some of the covers that were used for different countries…I’d love to see what they look like. Peace Love and Death Meatl. TTFN.

  24. jrardin Says:

    That’s great to hear, Andie!

All the covers are the same (or at least similar) except for the first, Meryl. Here’s a link to my FB fan site and a picture a great girl named Tez sent me, that includes that book:
