Oh, Indy!

Just saw the trailer for the new Indiana Jones movie.  I am so excited I feel like choreographing my very own, starring me, fight scene!  I’m actually considering breaking my long-standing rule and going to see the movie in a theatre!  Love the fact that they’ve cast Shila Labeouf, (as Indy’s son?  That’s what I heard anyway.) because he’s one of my favorite young actors.

In other Indy news, visited the city this weekend (it’s also one of my favorites).  Didn’t stop by the racetrack, though I always imagine I can hear the Old Gray Lady calling, even from miles away.  She’ll just have to wait until May.  This trip was more about stopping in at a Borders, where they had plenty of Jaz Parks to offer in their fantasy section, and visitng family.  Badly wanted to spend some time at the Slippery Noodle that evening as well, (picture awesome live blues played in Indiana’s oldest continually operated bar–very cool vibe) but since we were in the company of underaged folks, it didn’t happen.  Maybe next time!

Nice to hear that you had a nice time Jenn. Next time see if you can take an In Law etc to look after the under ages so that you can go to the Bar. LOL

Definitely. I’m trying to figure out how to put Vayl and Jaz in Indianapolis for the big race. Hundreds of thousands of people attend, so I can see lots of potential for frustration and chaos if I get them there. However the race takes place during the day. Tough to put Vayl at the track right then. Still thinking…

I love Shia Lebouf. Shis Lebouf for Bergman. Yeah!

OMG you are so right–he’d be perfect!

Ooooooooh, I love Indiana Jones! I really need those movies on DVD some time, though I must have seen all of them like 5 times each, LOL I love Harrison Ford and Sean Connery, they’re brilliant! :D Haven’t seen Shia in anything yet… so I can’t say anything about him.

And LOL despite the fact that Bergman is described in the books as fairly young, I so can’t stop imagining as an older guy… a little like Giles from BtvS, or Q from James Bond! It’s amazing how the mind manages to read over the physical attributes described after you got a fixed image of a character in mind…

You know, I was just looking for the Indiana Jones set and couldn’t find it in the store I was in–which has practically everyhing. So weird!

Shia recently starred in “Transformers.” Much, much better movie than you might expect. I, personally, loved it. He was also amazing in “Holes.”

Yeah, I think Bergman comes off old because he has such a cob up his butt at first! Dare I say he gets younger as the series progresses? Hoping it continues beyond five books, because I have interesting plans for that boy.

Hey, wish I had been home this weekend (I live in Indy, although I’m away at college at the moment)!! I’ve just started on your Jaz Parks series, and am enjoying it thoroughly. Glad you enjoyed your stay!!

  8. Sayuri Says:

If you like Shia and Keanu then I excpect you have to have seen Constantine?

I love that movie, simply for Shia and of course Keanu plus Tilda Swinton. She looks like an alien made of ivory. I just love her.

  9. jrardin Says:

Hey Heather, welcome! Excellent to know an Indy girl likes Jaz!

Yeah, Sayuri, I actually have Constantine protected on my DVR, so nobody can erase it before I’ve seen it a couple dozen more times. People so often pan those kinds of movies, but I’ve decided it’s because they totally don’t get it. Constantine rocks!

Heehee, Indy gives me such good childhood memories of sitting watching it with my grandad. Frequently. When I was a kid I think we alternated between Indiana Jones, James Bond and Inspector Gadget.

Sad to say (sorry!) that something about Shia really bugs me. Don’t quite know what it is.

And yes, Constantine does indeed rock! It scared my good old Catholic mother though – “darkest film I’ve ever seen” apparently!

I love Inspector Gadget! Did you ever see the cartoons? Same old plot, every Saturday. But I’d sit through the whole tired half-hour just to see what weird thing-a-ma-jig was going to pop out of his hat next.

  12. Phoebe Says:

Yes! I thought it was brilliant. I have quite a few episodes on video. My grandad used to buy me a new video every weekend – Scooby Doo, Flintstones, Jetsons, Dastardly & Muttley, Inspector Gadget, Dangermouse, all of those. I had such a glorious childhood. Thank god I was born before Barney and the Teletubbies.

I always wanted to be Penny! The movie was a bit of a let down for me, though.

Kinda scary that the cartoon series was over before I was born…

  13. jrardin Says:

I think you may, possibly, have the best grandad ever! Mine was a sweetie underneath, but very gruff and scary on the outer layer. I think the Depression and World War II did a lot to shape his personality. (Cool sidenote: he made money during the Depression as a pool shark. Much later, when he finally had a comfortable income, he bought himself a pool table. I think it might’ve been one of the proudest moments of his life.)

Right not playing Jenn. LOL To be honest Ive been collecting DVD’s of old Cartoons and stuff that I remember. For example I now own the full Bagpuss series and Ive also picked up Video’s from car boots so Ive had stuff like Mr Ben, Rubarb and Custard etc. LOL

Really good fun when you watch them again. Like you my Grandad was a Tough nut on the outside but a softie on the inside. I got many a good laugh at tales about him from my Dad. A couple that stand out I think Jenn may like for a certain father figure if he pops up in future books. For example during WW2 he just kept hearing how this, that and the other was bigger and better in the US from a Texan, after a few hours of it, he turned round and said “I’ll tell you something else thats bigger in Texas, your mouth.” And socked the guy right in the kisser flooring him.

After the war he started work as a cabbie to support his family and one or two of the established guys took exception to this. He queued up with them got to the front when one of the others got out and started an argument that went to fisty cuffs. After knocking the guy out, my Grandad then went down the rest of the taxi queue asking if anyone else had a problem with him. None did. But perhaps the biggest payoff came when my Dad was a cabbie at weekends earning more in a weekend than he did in the civil service all week. He got asked “How do you get on with that Ba**ard George Wilson?” My Dad turned round and said “Quite well, he’s my Dad.” The guy apparently turned white as sheet and moved away sharpish.

    Hope this amuses you Jenn.

  15. jrardin Says:

Indeed it does. What a character your Grandad sounds like! I think mine would’ve enjoyed hanging around with him–if they’d managed not to fight first that is!
